This season of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 will be all different and exciting than earlier seasons. According to some reports, the BCCI has approved the DRS (Decision Review System) for the 2018 season. According to reports, the talks were going on for a long time and in the end the board has given its green signal to the DRS system for IPL 11.
Now IPL will become the second major T20 league to make use of DRS after the Pakistan Super League.
The BCCI has been opposing this system for years, but now has decided to use it in its important league. Due to the referral system, the BCCI continued to oppose it from 2016 tour of England, but now BCCI has adopted flexibility in his approach.
According to reports, the board has now agreed to use the DRS in the 11th edition of the IPL. A BCCI official said, the board was keen to use the DRS for a long time, but now he feels that it can be used in the IPL. Anyway, it is being used in India’s international matches for the past one and a half years.
A report in the Indian Express claims that in December, the BCCI had picked the top 10 domestic umpires in the country for a session on DRS in Visakhapatnam, BCCI had conducted DRS workshop for 10 domestic umpires in the country in, in view of the use of the IPL’s DRS. ICC Umpire Coach Dennis Burns and Australian umpire Paul Rifle informed the Indian umpires about this technique. These 10 umpires will now do umpiring in the IPL 11, 2018
