Day 3: New Zealand not got the start what they were looking early in the morning as Pakistan’s seamers had pulled their side back into the game when they captured seven wickets in the first session to bowl the hosts out for 200; Amir 43/3, Rahat 62/4 and Sohail 78/3. Hosts could only bunch the lead of 67 runs. Now it was turn of Pakistani batsmen to make the good total on the board but the same story repeated in 2nd innings also as Pakistan lost its first 3 wickets on just 64 runs. Moreover the pace of scoring runs was also low as Pakistan took 50 over’s to score 80 runs in this innings. Wickets were falling on regular intervals as Pakistan was reduced to 129/7 with Asad Shafiq on 6* and Sohail Khan on 22* at Hagley Oval in Christchurch at the end of day 3. Trent Boult played vital role in dismantling the Pakistani innings as he took 3 wickets and conceded just 18 runs. Wagner becomes the second quickest New Zealand bowler to take 100 wickets in 26 test matches before this Hadlee did this in 25 matches. The lead is of just 62 runs with 3 wickets in hand. Both the batsmen have big task on their shoulders tomorrow morning. They both need to carry own what they left on day 3 as the lead need to extended to defend-able total so that bowlers can try their best to win the match.
