Ravichandran Ashwin became only 3rd Indian to win the Sir Garfield Sobers trophy ICC Cricketer of the year following Rahul Dravid (2004) and Sachin Tendulkar (2010). He was also named ICC Test Cricketer of the Year as per the voting done from 14 September 2015 to 20 September 2016, Ashwin has played 8 Tests in which he bagged 48 wickets and scored 336 runs. Ashwin also claimed 27 wickets in 19 T20Is. Ashwin had finished 2015 as the number-one ranked Test bowler in the world, a position he twice reclaimed in 2016. He also becomes 2nd fastest bowler to pick 200 wickets. Ashwin currently occupies the top spot in the list of ICC Test bowlers, followed by Ravindra Jadeja, who is on 2nd spot. In the recently-concluded Test series against England at home, the off spinner returned with 28 wickets in five matches.
The journey thus far hasn't been a bed of roses, but if those thorns hadn't come In my way I wouldn't be half the person that I m today.
