Day 3: India started the day on overnight score of 146 runs but the start India wanted they didn’t have as Pujara was bowled by Jake Ball on the 2nd ball of the day without adding a single run which brought skipper Virat Kohli to the crease. Vijay continued his preceding day form playing his natural game and went on to complete his 8th Test ton in 72nd over of the innings.
Virat Kohli was also playing his natural game and India move to lunch without losing another wicket with Kohli 44* and Vijay on 124*. The duo put on 116 for the third wicket before Adil Rashid finally caught and bowled Murali Vijay on 136 after the lunch. England Fight backs in post-lunch session as England managed to pick up four wickets in the session as Karun Nair 13, Parthiv Patel 15 and R Ashwin 0 failed to exploit the platform created by Kohli and Vijay as India was reduced to 307/6 and still 93 runs behind from England total.
Then Virat Kohli and Ravinder Jadeja put on 57 runs for the 7th wicket before Jadeja got out on 25 runs caught by Buttler and bowled by Rashid. Virat Kohli got the support from Jayant Yadav down the order; he played maturely and showed his talent what he is capable of both of them added unbeaten 87 for the 8th wicket before the day 3 stumps.
Virat Kohli demonstrated his affluent form as he registered his 15th Test century at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday to take India to a lead of 51 runs at the end of the third day’s play against England. At stumps, India’s score read 451/7 with Kohli unbeaten on 147 and Jayant Yadav on 30 runs.
