Australia chooses to bat after winning the toss. New Zealand made couple of changes as Nicholls and Ferguson comes in for Neesham and Henry. Australian team is unchanged. Australia didn’t have the best of start as Trent Bolt strikes in his first over as Aron Finch was caught on 3 by Henry Nicolls.
Trent Bolt strikes again this time its Skipper Steven Smith spooned a simple catch to Henry Nicolls, out for a duck and Australia was reduced to 11/2. After that David Warner and Bailey had 62 runs partnership for the 3rd wicket before Bailey got out on 23 runs on the bowling of Grandhomme.
Grandhomme gave another blow by taking wicket of Marsh in the same over in the duck. Meanwhile David Warner was playing brilliantly on the end; he was well supported by Travis Head as the duo put on 105 runs for the 5th wicket before he got on 37 runs bowled by Santner.
Wickets continue to fall on regular intervals but David Warner was playing his natural game and completed his Century in 38th over and stayed till the last bowl of the Australian innings and got run out on 156 of 128 balls making more than half score of Australian total. In response New Zealand had fine start with opening partnership of 44 runs.
However Cummins strike and asserted the wicket of opener Tom Latham for 28, snapped up by Faulkner at backward square leg. Faulkner got the prized wicket of Kane Williamson, lbw for 13 runs. Martin Guptill chased a wide delivery from Head and Bailey snapped up a leaping catch at short cover for 34 off 40 balls.
Later on Mitchell Starc strikes and picks the wicket of Henry Nicholls of 3 and Kiwis reduced to 83/4 in 17th over. After that no other batsmen could stay longer on the crease and New Zealand was bundled out on 147/10. Starc picked 3 wickets, Cummins, Faulkner and Head picked 2 wickets apiece.
David Warner was declared Man of the Match and Man of the series.
